A burning rubber smell could indicate a loose hose or belt under the hood while other burning smells could point to burnt-out electrical fuses, worn brake pads, or an overheating A/C compressor. Musty or sour smell coming from the A/C. This smell could mean that moisture has accumulated in your car’s A/C system and allowed for mold growth. Rotten egg smell coming from your vents. Sulfur gas can leak out of worn out or damaged fuel pressure sensors, fuel filters, or the catalytic converter. Gasoline smell inside the car. If you notice a persistent gasoline smell from inside your vehicle, this could be an indication that you have a leaky fuel tank or fuel injector. Exhaust smell inside the car. This most likely means that there is a leak in your car’s exhaust system or that your window/doors aren’t sealing closed properly.
