With an aggressive look, athletic stance, and efficient performance capabilities, the T-Prime GTE concept from Volkswagen made its debut at the Beijing Auto Show last week. The striking new concept featured more LED lighting than we’ve seen on any VW thus far and 22” wheels, which might not be standard come production time, but looked great on the showroom floor. And speaking of things to look at, the T-Prime GTE concept has screens galore! It included a 12” gauge display, 15” center infotainment display, 9.6” screen between the two back seats, and a 10.1” tablet behind both front seat headrests. Volkswagen revealed their new Premium SUV concept at the Beijing Concept Show, illustrating a new company direction of more high-technology cars and their effort to digitize their vehicles. This new concept has taken the luxury SUV to a new level of advancement, offering several technology upgrades to promote a sportier feel. Every feature in this new SUV is passenger-centered, focusing on interactivity with the merging of the Active Info Display and Infotainment system. The technology upgrades are not only for entertainment purposes. The SUV will also have a plug-in hybrid powertrain, boasting a noteworthy 376 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The electric range alone will be 31 miles, while the combined fuel economy will be around 78 mpg. MotorTrend’s spy photographer spotted Volkswagen taking their new three-row crossover out for a test spin in California. Although it was wearing a different badge, it distinctly resembled the VW Crossblue concept which debuted at the Detroit Auto Show. All the details have not yet been confirmed, however MotorTrend speculates it will garner the Passat’s 3.6L V6 Engine and may even offer a 2.0L Turbo 4-Cylinder Engine or a hybrid version. The crossover will also most likely be available with front and all wheel drive. What we do know, however, is that the vehicle’s exterior will feature a flat and square front end with silver roof rails. It will sit atop the VW MQB platform and fit seven. The interior will feature a sunroof and driver assistance technologies. MotorTrend expects this three-row to be Volkswagen’s most expensive vehicle yet, reaching $50,000. The name has not yet been revealed, but we can expect to hear more details, as well as details on other new Volkswagen crossovers like the CrossBlue Coupe and Cross Coupe GTE, and the new Tiguan.
