Exciting news Volkswagen fans! Spy shots of the 2018 VW Tiguan have been released and it looks awesome! This compact crossover appears to have undergone a sporty makeover but still features some of the more chunky proportions that we see on many full-size SUVs. Rumor has it that there will be a five-seat and seven-seat version available and that the interior will feature a large touchscreen display in the center of the dashboard with gesture control technology. More information should be available shortly after the model's’ debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show on September 15th. &bnsp; Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross drivers Tanner Foust and Scott Speed are used to competing out on the race track and showing off the skills at speed and ingenuity behind the wheel. Recently, while in Washington D.C. for the GRC D.C. doubleheader weekend, the two decided to take their competition off the track and have a friendly wager at The Escape Room. The Escape room is an immersive team building experience that is offered in cities all over the world. For this experience, teams are locked inside the room and presented with a scenario as to why they need to find their way out of the room in the next hour. Clues are hidden all over the room that help the teammates to discover the key that will release them from the room in this race against the clock. Speed and Foust decided to up the stakes in this game, however, and decided that they would each enter the room with their own teams, separately, and whoever’s team emerged in the shortest time would be declared the winner. The loser then had to arrive at GRC DC in an outfit that was specially chosen by the winner. Fans of the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team will be excited to learn that team principals have officially extended Scott Speed’s contract for a further two seasons. This extension was made official right as Speed and teammate Tanner Foust are preparing to compete in the seventh round of the 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship. Speed and the team hope to continue his success from the past two seasons behind the wheel of the No. 41 Volkswagen Beetle GRC. Last year, Speed claimed a third place victory in the championship finish and so far this year, he took home a second place finish at the season opener in Fort Lauderdale and two second place finishes at the recent doubleheader in Detroit. “I’m super excited to re-sign for another two years with Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross,” said Speed.  “I’ve been lucky enough to be able to surround myself with an awesome crew and support team; everyone here feels like family. My experience with the team over the last two years has been an amazing journey,” added Speed. “We’ve continued to make strides in the development of our program and we’re ready to begin to assert ourselves as the dominant team in this sport.”

According to Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA), the brand’s sales for last month increased by 2.4 percent over sales from July of the previous year. In total, the brand’s U.S. sales total for July came to 30,553 units and for the entire year through July, Volkswagen has sold 205,742 units in the U.S. July Sales Totals: Golf SportWagen sales reached 2,602 units Golf GTI sales increased by 3.2% with 1,780 units Golf sales increased by 163% with 1,890 units Beetle Convertible sales reached 1,035 units Beetle Coupe sales reached 1,274 units Jetta Sedan sales increased by 4.2% with 11,467 units Passat sales reached 6,904 units Tiguan sales increased by 12.5 percent with 2,407 units Touareg sales increased by 16.4% with 676 units

Volkswagen is looking to make their 2016 model year even more convenient for all of their drivers. By adding a variety of features that were previously only available on the Touareg SUV, Volkswagen looks to make the driving experience even easier than it was before. New features will include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Parking Steering Assistance. For the 2016 model year and depending on the model and trim, the CC, Golf, e-Golf, Golf R, Golf GTI, Beetle, Golf SportWagen, and Jetta will all be equipped with the various new features. The Beetle, Jetta, and Beetle Convertible, in particular, will all come equipped with the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System as a standard feature. Making things even better, 85% of Volkswagen models are not outfitted with standard rearview cameras, making them safer than ever.

Volkswagen has accomplished another memorable achievement with Rallycross driver Scott Speed bringing home back to back second-place finishes at Belle Isle Park in Detroit. After facing a multitude of mechanical issues, Speed battled his way back up close to the top. “I wish they had let Sunday’s final run without a restart because I think we would have had a better shot, but Patrik (Sandell) had us by a little bit all weekend and deserved to win,” said Speed. “Coming away with two podium finishes is great for our championship points, and now we’ll be looking forward to the D.C. race and hopefully a win.” The team’s other driver, Tanner Foust, also had an extremely impressive weekend until being unable to finish due to crashes.

Scott Speed and Tanner Foust are best known for getting behind the wheel of Beetle GRC race cars as the main drivers of the Volkswagen Red Bull Rallycross team. Their love for racing, however, is not limited to Rallycross as a new video released by the brand shows. The two also have a love for  RC racing. In the video, Scott Speed discusses how in his free time runs his own RC track and hobby shop. For Speed, this track is a beloved hobby that he shares with his family as his wife Amanda handles the books and his step-son helps to run their social media. Speed shows off his skills on the RC track and then heads on over to his race at the base where he challenges fellow driver Tanner Foust to a grudge match with their RC cars which Speed had specially painted to resemble the actual Beetle GRC cars that they drive. Once they finished their RC racing, the two suited up and headed off onto the Rallycross track to do what they do best.
