Since the Volkswagen Beetle’s initial introduction during WWII, this model has easily grown to become one of the most iconic models in the VW brand’s lineup. During its initial release it was a complete contrast from the typical large front engine, rear-drive sedans that car buyers of that era were used to. Even so, the intriguing appeal of the Beetle’s design, it’s conveniently compact size and higher fuel efficiency quickly gained it an impressive amount of popularity. In the more than seven decades since this vehicle was first introduced its unique quality has kept it as one of the most popular VW models.
In additional to this model’s unique design and capabilities, a big part of what gained this model instant recognition was the incredibly elaborate marketing campaign that the brand released featuring the Beetle. This campaign included a series of television and print advertisements that focused on the look, size, efficiency, and affordability of this all-new model making it truly stand out in the eyes of American car buyers.
Several of these original tv spots were recently featured on the official King Rose Archives YouTube page. This page is dedicated to sharing vintage video footage from through automobile history.
