Back in the 60s Volkswagen Beetle fans and off-road enthusiasts alike were given a treat when Volkswagen released the Baja Bug, a vehicle that seamlessly combined both passions. This model came equipped with off-road tires that lifted the body of the Beetle higher, allowing owners to take it through dirt, sand, rocks, and more. This rugged modification allowed this model to travel to places that really were off the beaten path.
Now, the brand has decided to offer a bit of nostalgia with the release of the 2016 Beetle Dune. This model is expected to be released sometime next year and will be equipped with a body that is 0.4 inches higher and 0.6 inches wider than typical Beetle models. Additional features that are included on the 2016 Beetle Dune are a metallic golden paint scheme, 18” “Canyon” aluminum alloy wheels, black wheel arch extensions, a new fascia, a large rear spoiler and a rear diffuser. This model gets its power by a 1.8-liter gasoline four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission.
While this model will be eye-catching and fun to drive, the off-roading capabilities will be in look only, you will not be able to actually tackle any rocky terrain with this vehicle. Regardless, you will still love the way you look and feel when you head off down the street in this vehicle.
