Volkswagen recently set out to promote their semi-autonomous Trailer Assist system in a rather unique way. They decided that it would be fun to set up a stunt that would offer an idea on how simple this new technology will make parking with an attached trailer. They created a specially-designed trailer using the base of a small car, plexiglass, and special transparent foil for the outside. From the outside it would look like a basic trailer, but from the inside it was actually a small vehicle. This trailer was then attached to a Volkswagen using the trailer hitch and driven around.

To everyone on the street it looked like a car with an attached trailer was driving backwards. This caused quite a lot of curious looks to say the least, but also helped to bring attention to the benefits that will be available through this new technology. Of course driving around completely in reverse is not actually recommended.
