Are you on the exciting journey of finding a brand new vehicle for you? Well as much as this time is exciting it is also stressful, and we understand that! That’s why this week we want to give you a handful of helpful tips and Q’s to ask before you sign that dotted line!

Let’s face it, buying or leasing a vehicle is a big commitment, and you want to be sure that before you get yourself into a contract you know exactly what you’re signing up for. Ask questions! Any and every question that you have, make sure to ask it, regardless if you think it a “stupid” one! But what if you don’t know much about cars? Don’t stress it, we’ve got your back and we have got all the Q’s you should asking the dealership! Check them out below!

  • What other fees will I be charged?
    • The price of the car is one thing but you will also have to pay taxes,  registry costs, tire recycling fees, and a documentation fee.
    • If there are any additional costs be sure to ask about them. Make sure you know what you’re paying for sooner than later!
  • How much is your documentation fee?
    • All car dealers charge a documentation fee, but not all dealership prices are the same.
    • Do some research and see what your state Doc fee is capped at.
  • Are there any dealer-installed options on the car?
    • Most cars come with options installed at the factory when the car is built. But sometimes the dealer adds items as a way to boost profit.
    • You want to know about any add-ons well in advance, ideally when you’re soliciting a price quote. Know that there’s a markup on them and negotiate accordingly.
  • How many miles are on the car?
    • Even if you are buying a new vehicle you might find the mileage is higher than you were expecting.
    • If there are more than about 300 miles on the car, you need to negotiate a lower price.
