With winter right around the corner, it is important to get your vehicle ready for whatever mother nature wants to throw at you! Although winter maintenance is very important, this week we are going to tell you about what you should have in your trunk in case of a breakdown, accident, etc.

Lots of people don’t take survival kits seriously, but in the winter they are especially important. Making sure your vehicle is properly prepared for storms, breakdowns, and accidents is extremely important, if you’re in an area with no cell service. So in order to help you get prepared, we’ve created a list for your DIY trunk safety kit. Check it all out below!

15 Items To Have:

  • Sturdy ice scraper and snow brush.
  • A small shovel.
  • Blankets
  • Emergency flares or reflectors
  • Rock salt, sand, or kitty litter
  • First aid kit
  • Extra windshield wiper fluid
  • A flashlight
  • Rope or Chain (for pulling your vehicle out)
  • Jumper cables
  • Small tool kit
  • Sunglasses
  • Portable cell phone charger
  • Water and non-perishable snacks

* These are important things to keep in your vehicle throughout the winter, but before you even hit the road be sure that your gas and wiper fluid tanks are full. Also be sure all of your tires are inflated to the correct PSI!
