Second, you need a list of fun activities that will help pass the time and miles with ease. So, check out our list below, and be sure to stop in to see our team when you’re ready to get your vehicle in shape for those long, exhausting road trips! If you’re looking to upgrade your ride to a new Volkswagen, be sure to start your search online, or stop into King Volkswagen for a test drive today!
- Combat boredom by making your own “travel binder.” Fill it with coloring pages, word searches, bingo games, etc, that way the kids will be entertained with a handful of different activities.
- Another way to fight boredom is technology, whether it be a learning toy, an iPad to watch movies or play games, an iPod to listen to music, or even an audible book!
- Bring lots of snacks! Kids get hungry when they get bored which can easily turn into them becoming hangry/cranky. That’s the last thing you want to deal with on a long trip, so pack a good mix of healthy snacks and a couple of their favorite treats for when they get really antsy!
- Another fun activity is having a countdown. Kids love countdowns of any kind, so turn it into a game! Give them a time limit and an activity, remind them of how much time they have left, and watched them focus on finishing in time! This is perfect because it keeps them entertained, it lets them know how much longer till we are there, and it keeps your drive easy!
- For when all else fails to prepare a “Are we there yet bag? When you’re coming up on a near breakdown pull out the bag and tell them if they behave they get to pick a prize out of it! This will easily buy you another half hour and keep your children excited and entertained with what they might get next

Ready to sell your car? We know that selling your vehicle can be a stressful experience. At Kine Volkswagen, we have a dedicated team to walk you through the process and put money in your pocket the same day! However, we understand that sometimes sellers want to sell their vehicles privately. This week we wanted to share the benefits of selling your car to dealerships like King VW!
Did you know that currently, the market is experiencing a shortage of vehicles? This means pre-owned vehicles are in high demand and your current vehicle could be worth even more than you expect, even if you don’t buy from us. If you’re interested in valuing your trade-in, you can do that right on our website, now.
Save Time/ Get Cash Fast
- Selling your car to a dealer is the fastest way to get paid. When you take your pre-owned car to a dealership, you can be in and out of the door within a few hours. However, when you sell privately, it could take weeks or even months.
- Dealerships love buying and adding pre-owned vehicles to their lots because, according to Cox Automotive 2018 Used Car Market Report, about 70% of annual vehicle sales are used cars.
Convenience
- Selling your vehicle privately can be a hassle. It involves advertising the car, detailing it, arranging times for potential buyers to test-drive the car. You must also do all the bargaining, and there’s always the risk that the buyer will back out at any time.
- When you sell to a dealership you’ll drive into your dealership, make the sale, and go home—how much easier can it get?
It’s Simple
- Paperwork is a headache – so leave it to the dealership! Dealers will handle all the paperwork for you and the DMV, so you won’t have to worry about anything other than the price and signing your name. With a third party or private buyer, you’ll have to deal with all title transfers and bill of sales.
Save Money With Potential Tax Breaks
- In most cases*, when you sell your vehicle to the dealership and buy from them at the same time (trade-in), you’ll save money on the sales tax of your new car.
- For instance, if you trade in a car for $5,000 and purchase a new vehicle for $20,000, you may only have to pay taxes on $15,000. Tax credits may also be available for select new vehicles, including hybrids and electric cars.

Spring has sprung and it is officially time to start your spring cleaning if you have not done so yourself yet. Once you’ve taken the time to clean out your interior, it’s time to show your exterior some love. Plus, when your car is looking fresh, you’re feeling fresh! But many of us don’t know that there are actually proper steps that you need to take in order to wash your vehicle properly – and if you don’t you could cause some serious damage to your car’s exterior. So take a few minutes to check out our helpful tips below and get ready to roll up your sleeves because we are washin’ away winter and scrubbing our way into spring!
Step 1: Fill a clean bucket with water and soap, choose a car shampoo that won’t strip your vehicle’s wax, and provide lubrication for grimy particles. *If you notice swirl marks when you wash your car, try filling two buckets, one with soap and one without. Before you dunk your sponge for more soap, dunk it into the bucket of clean, non-soapy water. This is cleaning your sponge of the dirt and grime that you just took off your car and will help prevent swirl marks.*
Step 2: Rinse your car, make sure you get those pesky, hard-to-reach spots too. This will get rid of loose dirt and grime and ultimately make washing your car a little less of a hassle. When rinsing your vehicle, wash top to bottom as opposed to front to back. Suds up your car, rinse, and repeat. Instead of a sponge, wash mitts are a great option. For pesky spots, like grime or bugs, try a spot cleaner that will help remove the stuck-on mess.
Step 3: Drying your vehicle after washing is extremely important, it makes all your hard work worth it. Using a clean microfiber cloth, dry windows and mirrors first, then move to bigger surfaces like your hood, doors, and trunk. Don’t forget door jams or any hard-to-reach spots. Lastly, dry your wheels and tires.
Step 4: A spray wax or sealant can help rejuvenate the shine on your vehicle.
As always, if you find yourself in need of assistance for any repairs or service for your VW, be sure to head over to our website to check out our service specials so you can save big on your service – AND don’t forget to schedule your appointment so you can skip the line later, right here at King VW!

Get An Organizer
There are many products that can help keep your trunk organized. The key is knowing what will work best for your lifestyle and having a designated spot for items. Shower caddies work wonders when it comes to storing a few small things or fluids for your vehicle. Bigger organizers can be utilized to store bigger items and/ or keep them from rolling around in your trunk.
Keep It Out Of Your Trunk
Don’t get in the habit of tossing things back there, keep unnecessary items out of your trunk in the first place. Items like your purse, reusable shopping bags, or other small items can be kept up front for easy accessibility. Keeping these items out of your trunk will keep them from spilling over or piling up.
Contain The Mess
Once your trunk is organized, try to maintain it. An organized trunk can guarantee that you’ll avoid spills, damage, and potential injury. Keep tie-down straps, pets, and cargo barriers in your trunk for those times when you need to secure something a little tighter or your pet is along for the road trip too.
Must-Haves For Your Car
While you are organizing, it is important to keep your vehicle equipped with a few certain things.
- Pen and pad of paper
- Cell phone charger
- Vehicle’s owner manual, proof of insurance, and a copy of your registration.
- First aid kit
- Jacket, hat, gloves, and a blanket
- Spare tire and jack, and jumper cables

March is coming to an end and April is creeping in. You know what that means – it’s time to jam out to your favorite song with the windows down! Yes, spring brings the warmer weather and a sneak peek of summer. However, driving during the spring months can be just as dangerous as driving in the winter. No, you don’t have to worry about icy roads or snowstorms, but there are still some things you should keep in mind! When the weather starts getting nice people to start flocking outside. That means it’s important to drive slowly and look out for pedestrians, cyclists, runners, and even road workers! Plus, spring showers can be nice for the plants, but hard for drivers, be sure to watch out for flooding and large potholes to avoid damage to your ride! Check out the rest of our spring driving tips below! And if you’re looking for a new ride for your spring adventures – King Volkswagen is the place to be! Be On The Lookout For Potholes: Winter weather takes a big toll on our roadways, which leads to some pretty nasty potholes. If you’re speeding down the road and don’t slow down in time and hit a pothole, then chances are that your vehicle is gonna have some serious damage. Damage can include a punctured tire, bent rim, suspension damage, poor alignment, and exhaust system damage.
Slow Down For Spring Showers: Did you know that roads are most slippery when it first starts to rain? This is caused by rainwater mixing with contaminants on the road, such as oil and grease. Make sure to increase your following distance to allow for proper braking.
Watch For Animals On The Move: Animal activity is up when the weather starts getting nicer. That means keep an eye out and drive slow especially for animals like deer that are known to be out at dusk and dawn.
Watch For Pedestrians: Similar to animals, people tend to be out and about more when the weather starts getting warmer. Whether that means there are more walkers, cyclists or kids play hopscotch. Be sure to slow down especially in residential neighborhoods and busy streets.
Share The Road With Motorcycles: Spring is when the motorcycle riders come out, and because of their speed and size, they may come in and out of your blind spots quickly. Be sure to listen to the sound of their bike and take a few extra seconds before switching lanes. If you are following a motorcycle, remember to leave a good amount of space in between.
Maintain Proper Tire Pressure: During the winter months, your tires lose air due to the cold temperatures, this causes your tire to be under-deflated. Vice-versa, warm weather will cause them to be over-inflated. Each situation can lead to increased wear and poor handling.
Inspect Your Tires: Spring will bring the showers and when that happens making sure your tire tread is in shape is important to the quality of your driving. Just like snow, rain makes the road slippery, and having good tires will make or break your driving experience. Remember to use easy tricks like the penny test to check your tire tread and regularly check your tire pressure if your vehicle doesn’t display it for you.
Pay Attention In Construction Zones: When the snow washes away and the spring days are here to stay, construction will start up again. One thing to keep in mind is that construction zones ask you to slow down for a reason, do it. Remember to…
- Be attentive. Construction workers and equipment may suddenly enter the roadway. Traffic patterns can change daily to accommodate the work being done.
- Understand and follow the signs.
- Make safe lane changes. Solid lines in construction zones mean that you should stay in your lane.
- Slow down. Fines may be doubled in construction zones. In addition, slowing down can save a life.
