Volkswagen stole the show this year at the Geneva International Motorshow. VW introduced (and reintroduced) two models: an exciting concept car and the new and improved up! city car. The new edition of up! will hit the market soon. Customers will have the option between two powerful gasoline engines (and an available 66 kW/90 PS unit) plus new seat fabrics, dash pads, exterior colors, and decorative decal designs. It’s also loaded with tech-savvy features like smartphone integration and “up! beats”.
The concept car is an affordable yet trendy SUV that steps up VW’s mobility standard and has a strong connection to the BUDD-e which was introduced at the CES in Las Vegas last month.

Volkswagen recently set out to promote their semi-autonomous Trailer Assist system in a rather unique way. They decided that it would be fun to set up a stunt that would offer an idea on how simple this new technology will make parking with an attached trailer. They created a specially-designed trailer using the base of a small car, plexiglass, and special transparent foil for the outside. From the outside it would look like a basic trailer, but from the inside it was actually a small vehicle. This trailer was then attached to a Volkswagen using the trailer hitch and driven around.
To everyone on the street it looked like a car with an attached trailer was driving backwards. This caused quite a lot of curious looks to say the least, but also helped to bring attention to the benefits that will be available through this new technology. Of course driving around completely in reverse is not actually recommended.
Check out the videos below to see the funny spot and then take a behind-the-scenes look at the making of it.

It has been 50 thrilling years since Volkswagen Motorsport was founded at the 1966 Formula Vee competition. Following this, Motorsport began to compete in endurance racing and focus on youth development in Formula racing. They have achieved many great things since their inception, most notably the title hat-trick at the Dakar Rally and in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).
In order to properly celebrate this occasion, Volkswagen has compiled an information package that offers a behind the scenes look at Volkswagen Motorsport’s development, involvement, and successes. The digital information package “50 Years of Volkswagen Motorsport” contains interesting historical company facts, a detailed Volkswagen Motorsport milestone timeline, and interviews and anecdotes from important Motorsport figures.

Volkswagen Passat Featured In New Video Series
Volkswagen is going to be releasing a new series of videos that will feature some of the available connectivity and convenience features that come standard on the all-new Passat. What will make these videos more unique, however, is that they will be animated, rather than using real people and vehicles. There will be a total of seven videos in the series, and the brand has already released the first three on their YouTube page.
In each video, we see a family out for a drive in their new Passat, and situations they encounter along the way such as a sneezing fit caused from allergies, or a laughing fit never deter them as the convenience and safety features of this model such as available Lane Assist and available Autonomous Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning help to keep them traveling safely.
You can see the first two videos below and be sure to look out for the release of the rest of the series.
