Volkswagen has always been at the forefront of innovation especially when it comes to safety technology. In the video below, Autoblog showcases the park-assist technology in the 2016 Volkswagen Golf GTE. If you’d like to test this technology for yourself come into King Volkswagen.

Since the Volkswagen Beetle’s initial introduction during WWII, this model has easily grown to become one of the most iconic models in the VW brand’s lineup. During its initial release it was a complete contrast from the typical large front engine, rear-drive sedans that car buyers of that era were used to. Even so, the intriguing appeal of the Beetle’s design, it’s conveniently compact size and higher fuel efficiency quickly gained it an impressive amount of popularity. In the more than seven decades since this vehicle was first introduced its unique quality has kept it as one of the most popular VW models.

In additional to this model’s unique design and capabilities, a big part of what gained this model instant recognition was the incredibly elaborate marketing campaign that the brand released featuring the Beetle. This campaign included a series of television and print advertisements that focused on the look, size, efficiency, and affordability of this all-new model making it truly stand out in the eyes of American car buyers.

Several of these original tv spots were recently featured on the official King Rose Archives YouTube page. This page is dedicated to sharing vintage video footage from through automobile history. Check out the video below to see one of these original advertisements and visit the page to see more!

MotorWeek’s Retro Reviews are a fun way to experience older vehicles that may not be around any more. You can see how much technology, performance, and safety features have changed over the years along with how these older vehicles drove and handled. For this episode, the Retro Review is on the now discontinued 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon.

The unique design of the Vanagon is arguably the most noticeable feature about the vehicle. The front seats are situated immediately above the front wheels which gives the Vanagon a small turning radius and also a different driving and handling feel. It’s boxy shape can also make it tricky to drive in a crosswind. With a snubbed nose, the typical under-the-hood elements needed another location. The battery is tucked under the front passenger’s seat while the engine is situated in the rear of the vehicle under the cargo storage area. The Vanagon was similar in size to many of it’s contemporaries and had a starting price of around $12,000. What do you think? Should VW bring back this iconic van?

We’ve mentioned him before in some of our blog posts about the VW rallycross team but who is the man named Tanner Foust? When it comes to rally racing and commercial advertisements for Volkswagen everyone is talking about Tanner. He started his adult life like his father and his father ‘s father by becoming a pre-med student. He quickly realized that becoming a doctor was not what he truly wanted to do with his life. By choosing to go into rally racing he took the completely opposite path but has never looked back and is extremely happy with his choice. Watch the interview above and get a better idea of who this ambitious young man is.

In one of our previous blogs, we shared with you the first of two new advertisements that the Volkswagen brand has released featuring the App-Connect technology seen in the new 2016 VW lineup. As we mentioned before, the VW line is now the only automotive brand that offers smartphone integration in their vehicles for all three major networks. Therefore, whether you use Apple CarPlay®, Google Android Auto™, or MirrorLink®, your VW can help keep you connected while you drive.

The first of the two advertisements was called “Party” and featured Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Michael Peña, and Adam Scott all driving their VWs using the App-Connect system to discuss a party that Scott was throwing that night. In the second spot, “Sorry” which you can see above. Peña and Scott are riding around together as Peña uses the App-Connect to try and apologize to Scott for hurting his feelings.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has presented the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta with a Top Safety Pick Plus rating following the model’s impressive performance in their series of crash tests. Overall, this model achieved a good rating in all five of the IIHS’s crash tests including the difficult small overlap test. The remaining four crash tests include roof strength, head restraints, side, and moderate overlap front. Additionally, the model’s available forward collision warning system and its basic rating are what earned it the Pick Plus rating.

In addition to the impressive crashworthiness, the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta comes equipped with standard safety features such as Hydraulic Brake Assist, Automatic Locking Retractors, Passenger Occupant Detection, Electronic Brake-Pressure Distribution, LATCH System, Electronic Stability Control, Engine Braking Assist, Electronic Differential Lock, Immobilizer Theft-Deterrent System, Automatic Locking Retractors, Tire Pressure Monitoring, Child Safety Locks on Rear Doors, Intelligent Crash Response, and Advanced Airbag System.

“Although the car didn’t get a full redesign, the A-pillars and door sills were strengthened for the 2015 model year,” IIHS said in a statement. “As a result, the Jetta’s small overlap rating improved to good, compared with the marginal rating of earlier models.”
