Volkswagen is looking to make their 2016 model year even more convenient for all of their drivers. By adding a variety of features that were previously only available on the Touareg SUV, Volkswagen looks to make the driving experience even easier than it was before. New features will include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Parking Steering Assistance.

For the 2016 model year and depending on the model and trim, the CC, Golf, e-Golf, Golf R, Golf GTI, Beetle, Golf SportWagen, and Jetta will all be equipped with the various new features. The Beetle, Jetta, and Beetle Convertible, in particular, will all come equipped with the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System as a standard feature. Making things even better, 85% of Volkswagen models are not outfitted with standard rearview cameras, making them safer than ever.

Volkswagen has accomplished another memorable achievement with Rallycross driver Scott Speed bringing home back to back second-place finishes at Belle Isle Park in Detroit. After facing a multitude of mechanical issues, Speed battled his way back up close to the top.

“I wish they had let Sunday’s final run without a restart because I think we would have had a better shot, but Patrik (Sandell) had us by a little bit all weekend and deserved to win,” said Speed. “Coming away with two podium finishes is great for our championship points, and now we’ll be looking forward to the D.C. race and hopefully a win.”

The team’s other driver, Tanner Foust, also had an extremely impressive weekend until being unable to finish due to crashes.

Scott Speed and Tanner Foust are best known for getting behind the wheel of Beetle GRC race cars as the main drivers of the Volkswagen Red Bull Rallycross team. Their love for racing, however, is not limited to Rallycross as a new video released by the brand shows. The two also have a love for  RC racing. In the video, Scott Speed discusses how in his free time runs his own RC track and hobby shop. For Speed, this track is a beloved hobby that he shares with his family as his wife Amanda handles the books and his step-son helps to run their social media.

Speed shows off his skills on the RC track and then heads on over to his race at the base where he challenges fellow driver Tanner Foust to a grudge match with their RC cars which Speed had specially painted to resemble the actual Beetle GRC cars that they drive. Once they finished their RC racing, the two suited up and headed off onto the Rallycross track to do what they do best.

Everyone remembers playing with toy cars as kids and making our own car sounds as we navigated the toy around the imaginary track. Now, the Volkswagen brand has created a new social campaign called “Unleash Your Rrrr” that brings us back to those days of childhood and offers a unique interactive way to connect with the 2015 Golf R.

“The idea behind the Golf R ‘Unleash Your Rrrr’ was simple – imagination. As children, we’ve all played with toy cars, and the power of our imaginations allowed us to turn rugs into expressways and wooden floors into slick racetracks.  Our voice would act as the engine. Fast forward to today where we now have the power of technology to enhance our imagination, and to visualize the power of our voice.” said Vinay Shahani, Vice President of Marketing for Volkswagen of America.

VW fans who wish to unleash their Rrrr can do so by visiting http://rrr.vw.com/. Here, fans can make a 10-second recording of their best car sound impression. Afterwards, Volkswagen will match up the sounds to video clips of VW Rallycross driver Tanner Foust doing some trick driving in the 2015 Golf R. The program’s technology analyzes the tone and pitch of each individual recording in order to select the video clips that will relate best to the sounds provided.

Visit the page today to create your own custom video and watch the videos below to see Tanner Foust and actor/comedian Michael Winslow unleash their rrrr.

Earlier this year, “The Golden Sisters” appeared in a series of Volkswagen advertisements for the TDI® Clean Diesel Jetta and Passat. In each of the videos, the trio humorously dispelled some common myths about diesel-powered vehicles through a series of videos called “Old Wives Tales”. Now, Mary, Theresa, and Josie are back in new advertisements for these same models only this time, they are advertising the incredible Model Year End Sales Event going on for both. The two new advertisements will air on television and can be seen on the Volkswagen YouTube page.

“We are happy to have the Golden Sisters back for another round of fun as we kick off our Model Year End Sales Event on TV and online,” said Vinay Shahani, vice president, Marketing, Volkswagen of America. “The sisters prove that sales event campaigns can be anything but typical, just like our dynamic range of products.”

Recently, Volkswagen of America made the announcement that it’s collaboration with Solazyme, Inc and Amyris, Inc for its Renewable Diesel Evaluation Program was successfully completed. Back in 2012 Volkswagen tested its renewable diesel formulas and TDI® Clean Diesel technology. The testing found that many of the results were very comparable to the crude based diesel in the performance category while resulting in fewer emissions. Throughout the two-year test over 134,000 miles were logged, evaluating the performance of a 100 percent algae based diesel fuel and a plant-sugar derived fuel, and it was also determined that fuel economy was either similar or even better.

“The successful completion of this collaboration with two leaders in renewable fuels and products highlights how far advanced fuel technology has come in recent years, proving that sustainable fuels are not only produced in more environmentally friendly ways but can offer similar performance and lower emissions from a well-to-wheel perspective when compared with commercially available crude based fuels,” said Ewald Goessmann, executive director, Volkswagen Group of America, Electronics Research Laboratory. “Evaluations like this are part of Volkswagen’s broader holistic environmental strategy which underscores the company’s commitment to the environment by deploying a comprehensive approach which addresses carbon reduction and sustainability at each part of the vehicle lifecycle.”

These results show just how promising renewable fuel can be, with benefits including better fuel economy and lower emissions. During the test, no engine problems were triggered and no extreme wear occurred and on top of that the production of soot was lower than using normal diesel.

Overall, the tests showed that renewable clean diesel could have extremely positive results and currently have a lot of potentials. Volkswagen plans to continue looking at the study to determine even more information for the future.
