It’s no secret that cars are complex, and if you don’t know a lot about cars, other than it gets you from point A to point B then, the chance you know the different filters in your vehicle is slim. No big deal, that’s why this week’s blog is dedicated to helping you learn more about your vehicle! With springtime right around the corner, it’s a great idea to change out your air filters! But did you know you have both Cabin Air Filters and Engine Air Filters? So when are you suppose to change them? Are they the same? How do you change them? All great questions! Two Types Of Filters:

Cabin Air Filter: Usually the cabin air filter is located right in your glove compartment or beneath your dashboard. This will need to be replaced regularly to avoid polluted air from coming into your vehicle, and more importantly, being breathed in by you. 

Engine Air Filter: The engine air filter prevents dust, dirt, debris, etc from getting into your engine, which could cause serious damage if that were to happen. 

How Often Should They Be Changed?

Knowing when to change your air filter is important to you and your vehicle’s health! It is important to check your owner’s manual for this answer because every car is different, but the rule of thumb is to change after every 12,00-15,000 miles. But it is suggested to change them after pollen season so that allergens are pushed into your cabin once the filter starts to deteriorate.

This week we are here to remind you of all the important documents you’ll need to make your Volkswagen purchase simple! So take a peek below! • Your driver’s license: Your I.D. is proof that you are a legally registered driver, this is important since you have to drive off the lot. Your driver’s license is a way to identify that the check or another form of payment is actually yours, too. 
• Your payment form: Whether it is a bank, credit union, or personal check, pre-approved loan, or any other payment form – be sure to bring it. If you are planning to put money towards a down payment you will need some way to pay for it.  

• Proof of insurance: In order to drive your new vehicle off the lot, you will need proof of insurance. It’s a good idea to call your insurance company ahead of time and add the new vehicle to your existing policy. You’ll need the car’s VIN number to set this up. You can also call from the dealership and have them fax or email the insurance card to the dealership. 

• Title/ Registration for your trade-in: If you are trading in a vehicle, be sure to bring the title. If you have a co-signer or a lien against the car, get the appropriate signature ahead of time. This part can be tricky and sometimes causes a hold-up. Give the dealership a call if you are unsure how to go about this. Also, you will need a copy of your current registration. 

• Loan account number: If you are trading in a vehicle and still owe on your loan, bring the loan account number. This number is on one of your pay stubs. You can also call the lender beforehand and ask how to facilitate the transaction.
