VW, FAB-U-WISH, Pink Agenda Auction Off #PinkBeetle
“The timing of the launch of #PinkBeetle makes it a natural tie-in to support the fight against breast cancer. We are proud to team with The Pink Agenda, FAB-U-WISH and Giuliana Rancic for this cause,” said Vinay Shahani, senior vice president, Marketing, Volkswagen of America. “Volkswagen is committed to being an active member of the communities where we sell and service products; we hope that auctioning the #PinkBeetle will not only raise awareness for the cause but also provide much-needed funds to help find a cure.”
If you’ve dreamt about owning the #PinkBeetle now’s your chance! From now until September 22nd, Volkswagen, in partnership with Giuliana Rancic’s FAB-U-WISH and The Pink Agenda, is accepting bids on the coveted #PinkBeetle in order to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. The winner of the auction will not only receive the limited edition pink Beetle before it goes on sale, they will also have the exclusive opportunity to fly to New York City to attend The Pink Agenda’s Annual Gala on October 13, 2016, and meet Giuliana Rancic.
“We believe that engaging today’s generation can go a long way toward finding tomorrow’s cure, so we are thrilled to collaborate with Volkswagen for the auction of the #PinkBeetle to support in raising awareness of the disease and much-needed funds for breast cancer research,” said Lucretia Gilbert, Executive Director of The Pink Agenda. “The Pink Agenda has contributed nearly $2 million to research, and this campaign will accelerate our efforts to make breast cancer a thing of the past,” Gilbert continued.

Volkswagen Reveals Strategy 2025
According to recent reports, Volkswagen is planning on putting its new “Strategy 2025” into motion. Generally speaking, this plan outlines up to 30 new all-electric or plug-in hybrid models which will be revealed by 2025. Not only is this a move to atone for their recent PR mishap, it’s also a noticeable trend in the auto world.
It was also discovered during Michigan’s CAR Management Briefing Seminars that the 30 potential new vehicles will be built around three different bases or platforms. One of these 30 vehicles will most likely be based on the BUDD-e concept, which we’ve discussed in previous blogs.

Stay Safe with Volkswagen Driver Alert System
Wake up, sleepyhead! These are not words you want to hear from a passenger when you are behind the wheel of a car. But being tired at the wheel is not a new phenomenon. It’s incredibly dangerous to you, your passengers, other motorists, and pedestrians to drive while you are tired.
That’s where the Volkswagen Driver Alert System comes in. It helps to alert you to unsafe driving maneuvers that typically occur when a driver isn’t focused on the road or when it believes you need a break on a long journey. The system monitors your behavior, how long you’ve been driving, and traffic signals on the road. A visual and audible noise will alert you every 15 minutes until you do take a driving break.
For more information on this potentially lifesaving feature, come into King Volkswagen and we will show you the models that it’s available on.
Volkswagen BUDD-e Concept Wins Award
It wasn’t long ago that the Volkswagen BUDD-e was revealed as the future of VW. There was a wide range of opinions on the look and philosophy of this SUV-minivan-electric car mash-up. Well, it seems that the critics have voiced their opinions in favor of the concept vehicle because they named it the “2016 Concept Truck of the Year” at the recent North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards.
The Director of Product Marketing at Volkswagen of America, Dr. Hendrik Muth, commented: “We are thrilled that the BUDD-e has been honored as 2016 Concept Truck of the Year and would like to thank the panel of judges for recognizing Volkswagen’s innovation. We are determined to lead the future of automotive design, and BUDD-e shows the capabilities of our all-new electric vehicle architecture and further advances connectivity and infotainment.”
The BUDD-e also won the “Interior Design of the Year Award” at the recent Automotive Interiors Expo 2016 show.

Test Driving Tips
A potential customer comes in for a test drive, we hand them the keys, and they are back in less than 15 minutes. We see it all the time! A test drive shouldn’t just be about driving the car, it is also about making sure it fits your daily needs and lifestyle. With some help from Kelley Blue book, we’ve compiled a list of suggestions you might want to consider the next time you come into King Volkswagen for a test drive.
- Drive it. – No, really. Drive it and take note of how you interact with the car and how it runs. Register the interior noise level of the vehicle when you are on the highway versus city streets. Put the driver’s seat in your ideal position. Check your mirrors and their visibility. Carefully check the brakes to make sure you’d feel confident stopping abruptly if you needed too. If you can’t test drive the car at night, drive somewhere darker (like under a bridge or in a tunnel) to test the headlights, high beams, and fog lights. Bring the car to a parking lot and try parking a few different ways to see how easy or hard it is to maneuver into and out of a space. Drive the car on city streets, neighborhood roads, and the highway as cars handle differently at different speeds.
- Play with the features. – Not every day is going to exhibit the exact conditions of the day you take your test drive so make sure to test the features that aren’t necessarily “in season.” Move the sun visor around to see the coverage you’ll get. Blast the air conditioner and heat fans to see how powerful and loud they are. Turn up the radio to assess the sound quality and to make sure your favorite radio station comes in clear. Adjust the brightness of any interior lights or infotainment screens.
- Test everything. – And we mean everything! Bring one of your favorite coffee mugs and make sure it fits in the cup holders. Pair your phone to the Bluetooth and test out the voice recognition. Bring a friend or family member and have them sit in the front and back to assess the comfort level and seat space. If you have a child, bring their stroller and car seat to make sure they fit in the cargo spaces and the back seats. Bring your phone cords and charging cords and make sure they fit in the snug spaces outlets are located.
